Big Stump Removal Requires the Right Equipment and Expertise

We're up on Lake Lanier in Cumming, Georgia. We're getting ready to do the second part of the job. We've got a stump blowover from a recent storm.

There's the lake and there's the blowever stump that needs to be removed. This has got to be one of the bigger stumps I've done. I've actually done it a little bit bigger, but you can see that this thing is massive. So this one's going to be a challenge, just based on the size, the height, and the fact that there's a hole. So I can only do this from one side, and I'm going to have to come across it. So I will get started, and I'll take some more video and photos along the way.

Here's an update at the end of day one. I'm about halfway through. Basically on the other side of that is the trunk. So I had to stop because I couldn't pass. So what I had to do was fill this in, make a little road, come back down. Hopefully I can get it from the other side, but the height of this is definitely posing a problem right now. So hopefully I can get through it.

Good morning. This is Kevin again with Stump Grinder Company. This is day two of my job on Lanier. I got this huge storm stump blow over. I'm not giving up. I've been having to stop and cut back using some loppers, shovels, pickaxe, build this ramp so I can get up high. But I made it over the top, and now I'm heading back down. Hopefully I get this done soon.

This is Kevin with Stump Grinder Company. Just finished up the big stump. I'm currently on Lake Lanier. And I was able to get through it. Took me two days. A little bit longer than expected, but had to come up with a couple things I normally don't do, but I was able to get through it. So that's all that matters.

Alright, there it is. What I'm going to do now is push some of this dirt around a little bit. Try to grade it out a little bit. And that'll be it.
